"In August 1944, Company A moved to Ponam Island and took over the necessary construction and maintenance on the airstrip there, while Company B moved to Pityliu Island on a similar assignment..... In December 1944, all remaining elements of the 140th were moved from Manus to Los Negros Island were they located at Lomrum Point. Early in 1945 they were joined by both Companies A and B who had completed their assignments on the outlying islands."
