Anyone heard of a RNAD at Fort Augustus
« on: 01 November 2014 05:33:05 pm »

A book on railways mentions that the line to Fort Augustus was used during WWII to supply a RNAD at Fort Augustus.

There are two Nissen huts with a railway platform behind and there used to be a loop of road in front of the buildings.  I was told that ammunition was transferred from the railway to lorries through the huts so this could have been classed as a RNAD.  We have no idea where the ammunition(?) was be taken to, probably down to Loch Ness, but seems a lot of trouble to get it to Inverness when could have gone direct by railway.

Any ideas?
