bingo794:
Good day ladies and gents.
I am new to this site and thought I would test the water for information on a gentleman, his arm of service, his individual vessels.
My main interests in the military area are mainly to do with WW1 Lincolnshire Regiment, 53rd Camel Corps, WW2 Bomber Command, and the Falklands War, having served there in 1982 with the army.
Back to the man in question........can anyone furnish me with any information on Eric Cranidge or the vessels he served with.
He was born in 1920 in Crowle, Lincolnshire and served throughout the war in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres of war.
His WW2 medals (39-45, Atlantic, Pacific Stars, Defence/War medals and his post-war Queen Elizabeth issue Special Constabulary medal, along with a number of photos) came into my possession.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, research wise.
I have attached a couple of photos of him on what looks like an "S" Class submarine.
Cheers, chaps.

You would have to get a copy of his Service Record - although if you are not Next of Kin this may be difficult, as the MoD will not release anything other than basic details until 25 years after death to non-relatives.

Many thanks for the reply and for the link, the NOK is a friend of mine so will help with the application.
Eric died in 1973 so it maybe possible for me to access the record, anyway.
This is a very handy link.
My main area of interest is WW1 Lincolnshire Regiment men and many of the records which survived the 1940/41 attentions of the Lufwaffe, appear on the Ancestry site.
I will obviously share what I find on here.
Cheers,
Bingo
