Royal Navy Wren, WW2, Forte I, II, III, IV

I am trying to learn more about Forte base during World War 2. I am fishing for either general information or hopefully an understanding of why my Wren-relative's record shows her assigned to Forte when in actuality she was serving on St. Mary's in the Scillies. I am aware of  the motor launch component at Falmouth, but that's about it. Thank you all.
