Hello All,

Sorry if this question is not appropriate for the Forum - if not can any Member suggest a more appropriate website where I might get an answer ?

The attached image is of a Royal Navy WW11 uniform shoulder patch that was worn by my Father in Law during the War, He served on various Ships but we don`t know any of their names.

One of his ships was a Mine Sweeper and we wondered if this patch / badge signified service on a Mine Sweeper as the embroidered images don`t seem to indicate anything that we can guess in relation to other service within the Royal Navy in Wartime ?

Thanks for your help with this.

My Regards,

Chris

It is the standard 'naval crown' and does not signify any particular branch.
It shows the sterns and sails of ships, and was originally used when granting coats of arms to naval officers.
Today the naval Crown surmounts the badges of Royal Naval ships.
