Help to identify ship
« on: 07 July 2021 10:19:57 am »

Please could anyone help me identify the ship attached? If possible the port too. I am currently writing a digital version (plus my own research) of my father's (Herbert Heseltine)diaries which he kept all his life. He was a marine engineer in the Merchant Navy before WW2 and then the Royal Navy during WW2. The attached photograph was found in amongst his photo albums but with no information and as the ship has only a number on the hull and no name I cannot connect it to any of the ships mentioned in the diaries so far.

Any help to locate the ship's history and the port in the photo would be most appreciated.

Many thanks  Anne Bacon

It is a Tank Landing Ship (LST) -  LST3510 - named SLINGER from 1947

She is shown entering Grand Harbour, Valetta, Malta
