I recently found my Uncle’s service record and wondered if anyone could help me decipher it.
I would love to know where his travels took him.

He joined the RN 19 March 1945 and initially went to HMS Royal Arthur
This was a New Entry training establishment at Skegness (it was Butlin’s holiday camp, which was taken over by the Navy in WW2)
Then to HMS Gosling, between 10 April 45 to 27 January 46.   This was a training establishment for Air Mechanics at Risley, near Warrington.    He was trained as an Air Mechanic (Ordnance) – this means he was a specialist in maintaining aircraft weapons, from torpedoes and depth charges, to bombs and guns
-   there is a scribble alongside the Gosling entry,  which may be a detached duty … but I regret I cannot read it
To HMS Merlin, 28 Jan 46 to 16 April 46.   This was the naval air station at Donibristle, Fife.
To HMS Daedalus 17 April 46  until discharge 28 April 1947.  This was the naval air station at Lee-on-Solent

My mum says that she thinks the word we can’t read is Kirkham, would that make sense?
Would he have ever been deployed overseas?

re: Kirkham  - yes, it would make sense.  This probably refers to RAF Kirkham, which was  used for armament training, with courses on different weapons.
