V.I.P. Flight of 781 NAS (2)
« on: 29 May 2012 07:54:37 pm »

Some photos that I took in 1978 while part of the V.I.P. Flight of 781 Naval Air Squadron at R.N.A.S. Lee-on-Solent (M.M.S. Daedalus). Images 1 - 5 show my aircraft Wessex H.U.5 XT772 parked on the helipad outside flight office - showing the aircraft being prepared to start engines and run up the rotors. In the background are the parking apron, hangers, and Sea Devon and Sea Heron aircraft of the 781 NAS Fishery Protection Flight. I was a Naval Air Mechanic (Airframes & Engines) on the V.I.P. flight and this was my first draft after 707 training squadron at RNAS Yeovilton.
